Types of Face Masks
To prevent the spread of coronavirus CDC recommends wearing face mask along with social distancing and proper hygiene practices. There are primarily three types of face masks that are used for COVID-19 prevention:
Homemade Cloth Face Mask: Made out of common materials at home and offer limited protection. Homemade face masks are less efficient as compared to other types of face masks.
Surgical Face Mask: Surgical masks protect the wearer from large-particle droplets, splashes, and sprays. These types of face masks are disposable. Widely used by healthcare professionals.
N95/KN95 Respirator: Designed to form a close fit to your face, N95 respirators provide high filtration efficiency (greater than 95%). The respirator filters out airborne particles, bacteria, viruses, splashes, large droplets, etc.
