Can Covid-19 spread through food?
COVID-19 is a respiratory illness and the primary source of contamination is coming in direct contact with an infected person or through droplets generated when infected individual sneezes or coughs without covering the face.
There is no evidence of viruses like COVID-19 that cause respiratory illness transmission through food packaging or food. Moreover, coronavirus needs a human or animal host to multiply, the virus cannot multiply in food. It is highly improbable that people can contract coronavirus disease through food packaging or food items.
However, keeping the current scenario in mind it is still advisable to follow proper food hygiene and good food safety practices.
